Many people like to start their health care careers by becoming a CNA (Certified Nurse Assistant) to get a fulfilling and well paying job. There are about 155 approved centers which provide CNA training in Connecticut (CT). CNA certification in CT has to be approved by the Connecticut Department of Public Health and the candidate has to appear for the national competency exam within two years, for his or her cna certification, after successful completion of the training.
Approved CNA training in CT is offered by community colleges, centers for adult learning, hospitals and also by certain high schools. There are also certain health facilities who offer free CNA training programs in CT and on completion the candidate is required to serve in these facilities for a fixed duration.
Like in most states the CNA training in Connecticut should be for a minimum of 75 hours which will include classroom training and also practical hands-on training to get skilled in patient care procedures. The candidate will receive practical training in mastering 25 skills and will be tested for at least 5 of these skills in the CNA certification exam. Out of the total of 75 hours a minimum of 16 hours will be spent on training the candidate in areas like communication skill, infection control, emergency procedures, CPR and resident rights and independence.
