CNA Training in Hawaii (HI)
Federal law requires that each state has its own laws and an authorized body which will govern CNA training programs in that state. The Department of Human Services (DOH), together with the American Red Cross, DCCA and DCA has come up with an approved program of CNA training in Hawaii (HI). Although there is a growing demand for CNA professionals, Hawaii was not having enough state approved training programs in the past decade, but now there are quite a few in the state. The approving authority which is the DOH has also created a system by which the already working CNA’s level of competency can be assessed and brought up to the current standard.
The programs giving approved CNA training in HI must have at least 100 hours of classes. Of this a minimum of 70 hours should be spent in hands-on clinical training and 30 hours in learning theory in the classroom. Practical classes of CNA training in HI must be conducted by a Registered Nurse who has a minimum experience of two years in the field. If such a registered nurse is in charge then other professionals from the health care field can also participate in the cna training and they should be qualified to oversee a cna nursing assistant student.
The list of approved centers which give CNA training in HI is as follows – Life Care Center in Hilo, Maui Community College in Kahului, American Red Cross-Hawaii State Chapter, Healthcare Training and Career Consultants Inc., Kapiolani Community College, TLC Total Loving Care Health Service and CareGiver Training School Corporation all situated in Honolulu, Healthcare Training and Career Consultants Inc. in Wailuku and Waipahu, Waianae Health Academy in Waianae, Kona Community Hospital in Kealakekua, Healthcare School of Hawaii in Aiea, CNA Training International in Wahiawa, and Ann Pearl Nursing Facility in Kaneohe.
