Health institutions all over the country are in need of nursing staff and it is predicted that in the coming decade there are going to be a lot of jobs available in this field. CNAs (Certified Nursing Assistants) are the ones who are most in demand and it only takes a simple course to become one. Schools giving CNA training in Kentucky have to be approved by the State Board of Nursing and should be for at least 75 hours duration. Out of the total hours, 59 hours have to be for classroom cna training and lab instructions, and the remaining 16 hours are devoted to giving practical hands-on training in a clinical setting.

After completing the training, the candidate has to appear for a state exam for CNA certification in KY. KCTCS (Kentucky Community and Technical College System) is in charge of conducting and creating the template for this competency exam. The exam is conducted in two parts wherein the candidate has to answer partake in a written exam and also demonstrate the skills he has learnt in patient care. The questions will be based on the state approved curriculum and will be prepared under directions from Nurse Aide Training Advisory Committee.

After completing the state approved CNA certificaion in KY and successfully clearing the competency exam, the candidate has to clear a criminal background check. After that his name will get included in the CNA registry of Kentucky and is free to pursue his profession.
