As in all states in the United States, Nevada too has a lot of vacancies for CNAs (Certified Nursing Assistants). A CNA provides direct patient care and is an important member of the medical team. To start off on this fulfilling career there are many programs which give CNA training in Nevada. The CNA training programs in NV need the approval of Nevada State Board of Nursing and should be at least have duration of 75 hours.
Approved CNA training programs in NV are divided into two components. A minimum of 60 hours is allocated for classroom training where the candidate learns topics like the fundamentals of nursing, laboratory procedures, control of infections, nutrition, medical terminology, physiology, patient rights and so on. The other training component is of a minimum of 15 hours where the candidate masters the practical skills required in patient care in a clinical setting. This training is given hands-on with real patients, under the guidance and supervision of a Registered Nurse.
CNA certification in NV requires the candidate to pass the NNAAP (National Nurse Aid Assessment Program) exam. After successfully clearing this exam the candidate has to submit his fingerprints on fingerprints cards to the Nevada State Board of Nursing and his name will be included in the State’s Registry of Nurse’s Aides. People having a criminal background will be barred from practicing this profession in NV. An average starting CNA salary in NV is expected to be about $23,000 annually.
